Excessive
focus on
the
future aspect of eternity,
with
blatant disregard for
the now
of it, often leads
to
legalism and a bifurcation
of Christianity
that justify
all
manner of abuse and injustice.
This
harmful convergence,
characterized
by rampant individualism,
is a
denial of communal
and
corporate responsibility
for all
of creation.
When
everything and everyone else
are
either stepping stones
or threats
to personal gratification,
there's
no need to speculate
about the
parameters of Hell
in a
distant future, because
we're
already creating
and
living in it now.
