I am becoming more and more convinced

that the mysteries of the universe

 could be unlocked with ease

if we could only solve

the paradoxical riddle

of family and distance;

not just geographically, 
though this is critical, 
but also emotionally.

Too close, and we're

like helpless particles

of no particular charge

being sucked into

a black hole of nothingness;

too far, and we yearn

for them such that it makes

our hearts hurt more

than we knew they could.
