Faith is, first of all,

   the willingness to undertake

      a journey, sans map,

         allowing the depths

      of theological questions

   to challenge our life's

assumptions and practices.

Her inferior doppelgänger

   approaches from a different angle,

      asking us to fashion gods

       from our fears and phobias,

      creating a personalized  deity

   who offers the faux

security of self-control.

Be very wary of the pretender’s

   seductive lure. Ask yourself,

      “If I can control it,

      how small and shallow

   must it be, and

how much can it be worth?”
